Alexandre Ciriello at The Ritz-Carlton, Macau.
Belgian cuisine has made its way to Macau thanks to the talent and creativity of Chef Alexandre Ciriello, head chef at L’Horizon.
In 2024 and again in 2025, the chef was invited to participate in Belgian Days in Macau, an event organized by the Consulate General of Belgium in Hong Kong and Macau and dedicated to promoting Belgian culture, cuisine, and craftsmanship. These two editions notably featured collaborations at the prestigious The Ritz-Carlton, Macau.
A First Collaboration in 2024
In November 2024, Alexandre Ciriello participated in the launch of Belgian Days in Macau with a four-handed gourmet dinner alongside Michelin-starred chef Jackie Ho.
This collaboration fostered a genuine dialogue between two culinary worlds. Alexandre Ciriello’s cuisine was thus showcased in an Asian setting, working alongside a chef deeply rooted in Macau’s culinary tradition.
The experience perfectly illustrated the ambition of Belgian Days: to introduce Belgium to the world while forging connections with local stakeholders.
For Alexandre Ciriello, this type of collaboration is also a source of inspiration. His cuisine, deeply rooted in Belgian ingredients and craftsmanship, is enriched by his travels and his curiosity about the world’s culinary cultures.
A New Experience at the Ritz-Carlton in 2025
In 2025, the adventure continued as part of a new edition of Belgian Days.
Alexandre Ciriello returned to the Ritz-Carlton, Macau, where he took part in a culinary program featuring a dinner and a Champagne Brunch at the Ritz-Carlton Café on November 23, 2025.
This brunch offered a different, more casual experience, yet one that remained steeped in elegance and Belgian gastronomy. The chef shared his personal take on Belgian cuisine in the refined setting of the Ritz-Carlton Café, a venue inspired by the tradition of French brasseries.
Belgium as a Bridge
These two experiences in Macau illustrate a shared goal: to take Belgian gastronomy on a journey and build bridges between cultures.
Through his international collaborations, Alexandre Ciriello does not simply seek to replicate Belgian cuisine abroad. Rather, he explores how it can engage in dialogue with other cultures, ingredients, and traditions.
In this regard, Macau is a particularly rich setting. As a crossroads of various cultural and culinary influences, the city offers an ideal environment for imagining new culinary encounters.
A Cuisine That Travels
For L’Horizon, these international collaborations represent a true window to the world.
They allow the chef to share his expertise, introduce others to the richness of Belgian cuisine, and, in turn, draw inspiration from new encounters and experiences.
From Chaumont-Gistoux to Macau, Alexandre Ciriello’s cuisine continues to transcend borders.
A contemporary Belgian cuisine, open to the world, capable of fostering connections and telling Belgium’s story far beyond its borders.
